Literacy And Arts In Action: Bookmarks & Drawings with Caimen Ray

One day, Caimen decided he wanted to draw.  He was apprehensive, but with encouragement from his family he developed a commitment to practice drawing everyday and over time his drawing and confidence in himself has improved .  He was also apprehensive about reading.  Everyday he conquers his fear of learning something new.  Caimen believes knowledge sharing is key to building group innovation and helping young people dream big while respecting each other.

Benefits of Drawing

Drawing makes children more expressive

Drawing is an important form of communication. Children are learning and have difficulty finding the right words to express themselves. By encouraging your child to draw, you gain insight into your child’s thoughts and feelings. By expressing themselves through drawing, children can boost their emotional intelligence.

It enhances your child’s motor skills

Drawing helps improve hand and eye coordination, while fine-tuning their finger muscles.

Drawing develops your kid’s problem solving skills

It lets their imagination run wild!

Drawing gets your little ones school ready

Drawing is one of the early foundations of logical thinking or abstract thought. Whether your child is still at home with you or at school already, drawing helps them prepare for understanding more difficult concepts. Learning these creative ways of thinking at an early age readies a child for future education. Provide your kids with a variety of materials to draw with, for example crayons, paint, chalk – and don’t forget digital media tools too, to help them get used to the tablets and other computers that they’re sure to use frequently in the future.
